India semiconductor Outlook: 2015 to $43 billion

India Semiconductor Association in a report issued on Thursday predicted that the design of embedded system and semiconductor market in India from the current $3 billion 250 million increase to $14 billion 420 million in 2010 and $43 billion 70 million in 2015. This electronic products manufacturers will bring huge business opportunities. With the electronics manufacturing market reached $155 billion in 2015, the semiconductor market will reach $15 billion 500 million.

The report estimates that in 2005 India will digest $28 billion 200 million of electronic products, an annual compound growth rate of 29.8%. In 2005, India produced $10 billion 990 million in electronic products, with a CAGR of 26.9%. It is clear that a large part of India's demand will still need to be met through imports.

This growth requires more engineers and software developers. By 2015, the electronics industry will employ nearly 800 thousand engineers to achieve sales revenue of $202 billion 570 million, accounting for 12.3% of India's GDP. Broadcom India company manager Rajendra Khare said, the development of embedded software requires the equivalent of VLSI (VLSI) 3 times the engineer, semiconductor and electronic products in the proportion of software will increase their programmability and flexibility to continuously improve.

About ten years ago, the India semiconductor and embedded design industry created little intellectual property. Changes in the market have made it possible for companies to focus on the creation of intellectual property rights in India, not just as a low-cost maintenance centre. The number of patents granted in India in 2004 was about 750.
