India semiconductor industry is booming communications products are the main driving force

According to a study of India Semiconductor Industry Association commissioned Frost and Sullivan showed that India semiconductor sales this year is expected to reach US $3 billion 800 million, including communications industry and equipment will account for $1 billion 800 million, the ratio of close to 50%.

The report said: "with the rapid expansion of the mobile phone market and wireless devices market, the share of the communications sector will continue to rise. The share of computing and consumer electronics will fall."

Global companies have set up factories in India, the production of communications products and equipment, Motorola has also recently set up factories in India. Flextronics, Circuits EMS and Jabil Solectron suppliers also expanded its operations in India to serve the local communication market.

The study pointed out that PHILPS and STMicroelectronics in India has the most extensive semiconductor product line. Analog devices, TI, Microchip, Freescale Carle, Samsung and Hynix and other vendors are focused on special products and markets.

The report notes that, overall, in 2006 accounted for 1% of the global semiconductor market in India, in 2007 will account for $2%.
