Institute of physics and chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences published LED liquid metal radiator industrial prototype

LED light source is the national energy-saving emission reduction plan as a priority development projects, but high power density led poor heat dissipation effect has become a bottleneck restricting its performance. The urgent need for cooling high power density LED, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of technology, puts forward the concept of LED liquid metal cooling technology, progress and series of key analysis, the corresponding theoretical and Experimental Research on new materials and devices research and development. Recently for the liquid metal radiator industrial prototype 200 Watt LED, LED light source can ensure full load operation, the highest temperature of the back surface of the substrate is lower than 45 DEG C at room temperature. The liquid metal thermal conductivity is much higher than that of conventional cooling refrigerant, in a wider range of temperature (from room temperature until 2300 DEG C) remain liquid, do not like an ordinary high pressure liquid easily due to phase change and dangerous, especially the radiator developed ten compact. The thermal testing laboratory on 200 to 900 watts of power devices show that the liquid metal cooling technology with rapid and efficient heat transport capacity, reflecting the advantages of stable and reliable, low power consumption in many of the leading traditional cooling methods, is expected to become the high-end LED light source to thermal management solutions.
