Israeli start-ups reduce power consumption of LCD flexible flat fiber

Israeli start-up company Oree announced the day before, is creating a flexible flat fiber, allegedly to replace the existing TV and mobile phone backlight unit in. The technology enables the light to be coated with micron sized granular material, and the thin plate coating is a light source, which is suitable for a backlight source of a flat panel display. The company claims to achieve better brightness, lower power consumption, and can be made into almost any shape.

Oree company is developing a "optical sandwich" (optical sandwich) of the device, the core layer is covered by two layers of metal, and the use of elastic polymer. The light is no longer enter from one end of the cable, the other end of injection, but from the end of the core layer, the core layer evenly spread, break through metal coating. This light is uniform by using Oree's proprietary technology.

Oree CEO Eran Fine said: "our technology is not to replace LED, but provide a higher efficiency for the." "The problem with the current technology is that it is difficult to transfer the light from the LED to each part of the screen at the same time. LED power consumption is also large, low efficiency."

Oree company is considering to thin plates placed directly LED, so as to further reduce power consumption. The LED is installed in the thin plate, which reduces the amount of LED, reduces the energy consumption, and can be used for making a thinner screen.

Another advantage fiber is soft. LED is placed in the optical fiber device, and the average light scattering, does not depend on the angle of LED. Thus, the LED can be folded or curled, still can scatter light. Oree said the technology can create any shape of the LCD screen, including the screen can be placed on the clothes.

Fine Oree said the company plans to produce a component, manufacturers need only install on the screen in the production, without additional design.
