Japan's use of blue light rail jump suicide events significantly reduced

A new survey in Japan shows that the establishment of a blue light lighting equipment in rail transit stations, will greatly reduce the occurrence of suicide jumping.

According to foreign media reports, the University of Tokyo applied econometrics professor Sawada Yasuko's team concluded that the above conclusions.

They analyzed data from a total of 71 stations in the Japanese capital from 2000 to 2010, during which the station had a total of 128 cases of suicide jumping. And in the 11 stations with blue lighting equipment, since the installation of the relevant equipment in the booth, only during the day of the incident occurred with a suicide jump.

Excluding the impact of factors such as the number of passengers, after the installation of blue lighting equipment, the number of suicide tracks per station jumped by about 84%. Investigators say the phenomenon may be due to blue can make the mood calm.
