Jinze Industrial University to make green phosphorescent OLED, light extraction efficiency of up to 57%

Jinze Institute of technology, Institute of applied magnetic field, Mikami Akiyoshi, Professor of research team revealed that the use of green light-emitting phosphorescent material made of OLED components, and achieved up to 210lm/W luminous efficiency. This is the light extraction efficiency increased to 56.9%, for the first time more than 2 times to achieve. The results were presented at the fifty-sixth Joint Conference on Applied Physics (March 30th - April 2nd, University of Tsukuba).

Prior to how to improve the efficiency of light extraction is less than 3 of the OLED is a big issue. Such as the use of this technology is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of OLED display and lighting.

Three on the OLED components made by the research group, the light is extracted from the bottom plate formed by the transparent electrode to the external bottom light emitting structure. A glass plate with 0.7mm thickness and refractive index up to 2.03 is pasted on the bottom plate. In addition, the surface of the glass plate is processed to form an optical lens array structure with a 0.3mm interval.

OLED component of the light-emitting layer material is in the "CBP" in the main material added "Ir (PPy) 3" iridium complex. In the equivalent of green, wavelength between 500nm ~ 550nm with luminous peak. When the OLED component is led to the brightness of 10cd/m2, the luminous efficiency 210lm/W and the light extraction efficiency of 56.9% are obtained. While in the absence of high refractive index glass plate, the luminous efficiency is only 94.3lm/W. The glass plate can improve the light extraction efficiency to 2.3 times.

Derived from detailed logical analysis

Three, said the results were developed in the light of the dynamic logic of the software "FROLED", and used it, I am afraid that the first detailed analysis of the efficiency of light extraction in Japan (three) and obtained.

Is this glass plate results can improve the light extraction efficiency is due to the "light glass with high refractive index of the original approximately to the ratio of 1:1 to stay in the house of OLED films and the bottom of the big lead to one side of the bottom plate" (three). But if so, the light will be enclosed by the bottom plate and the glass plate, which is constructed from a lens array formed on the surface of the glass plate, and the light is successfully extracted from the outside of the component.

Three, said the logical calculation shows that the light extraction efficiency of 3 times the original, can reach up to 75%. If we can improve the components of the technology, it is expected to achieve this value".
