LCD panel supply began to tense monitor prices will rise

PHILPS LCD product marketing manager Chris Pollitt said the day before, after the price of nearly six months, LCD prices began to rise, mainly due to improved supplier panel prices.

In an interview on Monday, Politt said that the 15 and 17 inch LCD panel supply began to tense, forcing more and more suppliers to cut prices to sell inventory in order to improve the display price.

Pollitt also said, the market determines the price, but also said that PHILPS will not be the first price, and it is possible to rival ViewSonic, Samsung and NEC prices, the price began to rise.

The reason for the price increase is due to the LCD panel suppliers have put the main production capacity, including the 19 and 20 inches from the inside of the panel, transferred to a higher profit notebook LCD panel.

Pollitt said that in the first half of 2004, LCD prices continued to rise. Due to the increase in prices and the expansion of production scale, from the beginning of 2004 to the beginning of this year, LCD prices fell steadily.

Pollitt also said that although it is not certain how much can rise, but it will not rise to the detriment of market demand.
