LED lighting Standardization (I): South Korea to develop, implement standardized specifications

LED lighting, although there are price and reliability issues, but the industry has been expanding. Recently, in order to further promote the popularity of LED lighting and industrial development, the relevant safety standards and reliability specifications of the LED standardization issues heated debate. Not only is the first step in the market in the United States and the United States, South Korea and Taiwan and other emerging market countries and regions are also discussed, but in fact the distance is still far from standardized. But the situation has changed in 2009: South Korea has taken steps since March 2009 to develop and implement standardized specifications.

Following South Korea, mainland China and Taiwan have also launched a standardized work, it is estimated that the first will be implemented in 2010. Currently, Taiwan's Ministry of economic affairs, said the standard Inspection Bureau, will be in CNS (China National Standars) in the 35 LED related standardization, has completed 12 of the relevant LED lighting standardization consideration. Moreover, China's Ministry of industry and information technology LED lighting standards working group also said it has basically completed 7 LED lighting standards. In Japan, although the government and industry associations are also widely discussed the development of standardization, but has not yet entered the development stage, is still under consideration. Japan, as an advanced country LED has been actively committed to the development of LED lighting standards, but eventually than South Korea late step.

What is the Standard Specification for Korea? Why can walk in the forefront of standardization?...... The survey was informed that the intention of South Korea's move is to seize business opportunities as soon as possible.

Part of the KS certification standards related to LED lighting

In Korea, LED lighting products are required to pass the KS certification standards". To be exact, the certification standards for LED lighting products are included in the KS certification standards. KS certification standard was originally the Ministry of knowledge economy of the Ministry of knowledge and Technology Standards Institute in 1963, in 2009, some of the modifications, increased with LED lighting related parts. In fact, this is the first revision of KS certification standards in 46 years.

KS certification standard is the Korean industry standard (Korean Industrial Standards). That is, according to the industrial standardization law of industrial product standard specifications, the purpose is to maintain and improve the quality of industrial products in korea. The quality of the object of management to make changes, modify the review standards, and improve the certification system. The object of the product has added 48 new varieties of cutting-edge industries, including LED, rechargeable batteries, organic EL and display components.
