LED (Light-Emitting-Diode) lighting is a new lighting technology. LED is a semiconductor light-emitting diode, is a semiconductor chip as a light-emitting material, the direct conversion of electric energy into light emitting devices. When both ends of the semiconductor chip are connected with a forward voltage, the electrons and holes in the semiconductor are combined to emit photons. LED lighting has long life, energy saving, rich color, safety, environmental protection and other characteristics, known as the third revolution in human lighting.

Government departments have attached great importance to the development of LED lighting industry, and give great support, China's 11th Five-Year development plan has been the development of semiconductor lighting industry as a key project. In recent years, China's LED lighting market showed a rapid growth momentum, in 2007 the market size has reached 6 billion 570 million yuan. LED (Sinotes) predicts that by 2010 China's lighting market size of nearly 10 billion yuan. (see Figure 1)

An important factor to promote the rapid development of LED industry is the invention of high brightness white LED. White LED has become the focus of future competition in the global LED. Chi consulting analyst Li Jun predicted that white LED will gradually enter the field of general lighting in 3 ~ 5 years, the potential market for the entire Chinese LED lighting industry will be more than one hundred billion yuan, the development prospects are considerable.
