LG Display will invest 100 billion won to build OLED production line

September 30, 2008, South Korea panel maker LG Display announced plans to invest 100 billion won in 2008 to build an ultra-thin panel OLED production line.

LG Display spokesman said the company is considering the construction of a dedicated handheld OLED production line, location may be located in the LCD panel production line located in the slope of the state.

OLED is characterized by its brightness and thinness are better than the current LCD (liquid crystal) and plasma technology, and is commonly used in mobile phones, automotive electronics and other small devices.

LG Display if you enter the OLED market, will be a direct competitor to Samsung SDI, Samsung SDI is currently the main production of mobile phones and other portable devices OLED panel.
