LG PHILPS has developed the world's first use of amorphous silicon technology full color flexible AMOLED display

May 17, 2007, LG PHILPS (LPL) announced that the U.S. UDC company (PHOLED[phosphorescent organic light emitting diode] patent owner) cooperation to develop the first use of amorphous silicon (a-Si) 4 inch full color flexible AMOLED Technology (active matrix organic light emitting diode) display, and in the 07 years from 20 to May 25 held the "2007 International Society for information display (SID 2007) on the launch of the product.

OLED technology is considered to be the best choice for flexible display, allowing LPL to develop a more durable, more stable full-color Full HD flexible display. Most importantly, the use of amorphous silicon substrate LPL technology can make use of existing TFT-LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) production line AMOLED display, it is important that this kind of product in commercially viable. LPL was the first company to use the technology.

LPL the development of the AMOLED display with QVGA resolution (320 x 240) as a feature, can generate a variety of colors, and has a of 150 m (thinner than human hair) of the ultra-thin thickness. The display screen is made of stainless steel sheet substrate to make the product more durable and protect the product from heat damage.

LPL evaluation of the display using the advantages of OLED technology, the image quality is amazing. Although the application of this technology is still in the initial stage, LPL can look forward to good news in the future was exciting not far away.
