LSG and PHILPS patent dispute new progress

LED lighting solutions -- leading designer lighting science group (LSG) said in its annual meeting of shareholders on the day before, the ongoing PHILPS solid state lighting company (Philips Solid State Lighting Solutions, formerly known as Color Kinetics), and the Royal PHILPS Electronics (Koninklijke Philips ELectronics) and Philips Electronics (PHILPS Electronics North America North America the new progress in the lawsuit).

The patent dispute began in February 2008. At that time, a paper petition PHILPS LSG will sue the federal court in Massachusetts, the patent war broke out. Then, in March 2008, LSG filed a lawsuit against PHILPS in the California high court, accusing PHILPS of stealing classified information to engage in unfair competition.

According to a press release issued by LSG, the court made a ruling in favor of LSG in September 4, 2008, and issued a preliminary injunction to prevent further damage to the interests of PHILPS LSG.

In conveying the verdict, the Court pointed out that in the case, LSG has a greater chance of winning, but also declared that there is clear evidence that the defendant PHILPS in the contact with the plaintiff LSG obtained confidential information". In the next oral debate, the court will confirm the preliminary ruling and require the parties to comply with the motion on the prohibition of LSG. The bill was submitted to the court by LSG and PHILPS.

Since then there have been more patent litigation between the two. In September 22nd, LSG sued PHILPS in a federal court in California, claiming that PHILPS's patent was invalid and that LSG had no infringement. PHILPS has yet to defend it. Subsequently, in September 26th, PHILPS filed a patent infringement lawsuit against LSG in the federal court in Massachusetts, LSG did not defend.

LSG's chief lawyer says LSG is confident that he will win every case, and that these lawsuits will not affect LSG's business.
