Longda 3D sensing VCSEL package will be used in AR/VR and other applications.

Yesterday (12), LED vertical integration plant Longda electronics first published a series of 3D depth sensing VCSEL packaging products, focusing on gesture and face recognition, pedestrian detection, driving fatigue detection and other applications.

3D sensing has been widely applied in mobile phone brand recently. The development of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL), which is the key component, has attracted the attention of the industry. Longda said its own VCSEL components were successfully imported into the mobile phone factory in the third quarter of this year, and is expected to be applied to 3D face recognition, AR / VR and so on.

This time, in the German electronics exhibition of Munich (electronica 2018), Longda's first VCSEL PV88M packaging product series is mainly used for 3D depth sensing module as the launch light source, providing a variety of wavelengths, brightness and packaging dimensions, and the luminous angle is from 45 degrees to 100 degrees. It can be applied to gesture recognition, face recognition and pedestrian flow. Various sensing systems such as detection, driving fatigue detection, and so on.

The new VCSEL integrated camera module and software displayed at Longda provide an interactive experience at the exhibition site. In gesture recognition, gestures can be used to control the central control system in the car, such as volume adjustment, menu turn over, telephone connection and so on. In face recognition, the face recognition system is used to interpret faces, distinguish human beings and photos, and demo detection includes crowd monitoring, as well as safety monitoring and warning for the elders and children. When driving fatigue detection, the fatigue response of driving eyes closed and nodding can be detected, and the driving safety can be improved.

Longda said that the current mainstream technology of 3D sensing includes stereo vision, structured light and Time of Flight (ToF), while the VCSEL components developed by ourselves adopt the ToF time of flight ranging method, which has the advantages of fast scanning speed, long distance, high efficiency, and not easy to be disturbed by ambient light and so on, which is in line with the mainstream trend of 3D sensing market.
