Lumileds releases high power LED, and a single compact source can provide more than 1700 lumens

The Luxeon V encapsulated LED can be driven below 5A to locate high - speed smart applications, including high and low end lamps, playground lighting, and outdoor area lighting.

Lumileds has released a new Luxeon V high-power package LED that can be driven to the level of 15W and for all kinds of high speed output applications, including field lighting, high and low luminaires, and outdoor lighting. In fact, Lumileds indicates that this compact single mode LED can provide more than 1700 LM under 5700K CCT, and can provide 70 CRI for 4.8A drive, equivalent to 110 lm/W.

Lumileds boldly claims that Luxeon V is 50% higher than its similar competitive products. At the same time, the 4040 encapsulated LED is also considered to be 60% higher than the heat-resistant of competitive products. Kathleen Hartnett, senior director of Lumileds product marketing, said, "Luxeon V implements the design of lamps and lanterns suitable for stadium and regional lighting, which uniquely combines high drive current efficiency with extremely low heat resistance and optimized radiation patterns."

The performance of a LED manufacturer on a competitor is rarely verified because the physical performance, such as a different emitter and package size, or a different manufacturer reporting performance under the conditions of different driving current and CCT/CRI combination. In addition, the most competitive CREE XHP (Extreme High Power) LED with Luxeon V products is a multi - emitter design.

Luxeon V marks the first single large power package of Lumileds LED

It is most likely that a product developer will compare the Luxeon V series with the 3535 or smaller package of LED. For example, the XLamp XP-L series published by Cree and the latest 3.45 x 3.45 mm package XP-L2 LED. XP-L2 can provide 1175 LM under 3A current. It seems that Lumileds can drive its latest chip at a higher power density level, which can be achieved by improved thermal resistance.

However, many product development focuses on optimizing the maximum driving current to achieve higher efficiency. The Lumileds can be driven with a large current of up to 1.4A. The 5700K, 70-CRI model can provide 580 LM or 148 lm/W, while the 3000K-CCT version drops to 545 LM or 140 lm/W.

On the official website, Lumileds said, "LUXEON V is a high-power transmitter based on chip level packaging (CSP), which provides maximum flux and better reliability under extreme operating conditions. This world-class performance is achieved through technological breakthroughs in grain, encapsulation and fluorescent. Finally, it has created a product that goes beyond the current competitive products and realizes the design of the leading lighting and lamps. " (compiled: LEDinside James)
