MITSUBISHI plans to launch a lighting system consisting of LED and solar cells by the end of 2009, primarily for plant use. Due to the use of the system life longer than the fluorescent lamp LED and solar powered solar cells, lighting costs can be reduced by about 30%. In order to effectively cultivate vegetables and so on, more and more plants such as fluorescent lamps are used, but there are some problems such as the cost of lighting electricity and the cost of light source, which makes the cost of cultivation difficult to reduce.
Prior to getting involved in the business, MITSUBISHI will introduce a pilot plant in FairyAngEL, a new plant in LED, a vegetable farming venture, to form a lighting system. With the help of FairyAngel and CCS, the lighting equipment manufacturer, with the experience of the plant factory, we will work together to optimize the lighting system. FairyAngel's new factory is Fukui Mihama construction, will soon put into operation. MITSUBISHI chemical will be imported into a part of the plant by LED and solar cells consisting of lighting systems. FairyAngel plans to plant equipment sales in the future plant, intends to sell the future development of the lighting system. In addition, most of the production line in this factory is based on fluorescent lamp and common power supply system. MITSUBISHI chemical has invested about 16% FairyAngel.
The use of MITSUBISHI chemical LED chip and phosphor, the future may also use organic solar cells
The LED in the lighting system uses the MITSUBISHI LED chip and phosphor material. LED chips and phosphor materials from other companies will be used to make LED. LED specific specifications "will be decided in the optimization process" (FairyAngel). Estimated to try white LED, blue LED and red LED. In addition to the MITSUBISHI LED chemical products used in the joint experiment, some color products will be purchased from other companies.
Solar cells used in the lighting system will be the first to buy silicon products. MITSUBISHI chemical to achieve the market in 2015, is the development of organic solar cells, the future will be used in plant lighting systems using organic solar cells.
