Maxim launches 350mA high brightness LED driver MAX16803

Recently, the introduction of Maxim adjustable constant current source MAX16803, can provide up to 350mA of current to drive one or more columns of high brightness LED (HB LED). The wide input voltage range from 6.5V to 40V can effectively avoid the risk of large transients such as load rejection and cold start. Through the high voltage (40V) PWM pin can achieve a wide range of brightness adjustment. MAX16803 is ideal for automotive lighting, LED display backlight, industrial and building lighting applications. MAX16803 regulator combination uses a low voltage (204mV) current detection benchmark and differential LED current detection technology to provide + 3.5% load current accuracy. The accuracy of the current can make all lighting components achieve uniform brightness. Low dropout voltage regulator (0.5V) and current detection benchmark are used to minimize power consumption. Parallel multi MAX16803 LED driver IC, can provide more than 350mA current to drive a single high-power LED. Use the output PWM brightness adjustment technology to adjust the brightness, that is, through the special brightness adjustment input (DIM) or VIN pin input pulse input. The waveform shaping circuit produces smooth and equal duration LED current rising and falling edges, which can suppress the EMI of the transient process. Throughout the 6.5V to 40V input voltage range, the 5V fixed output regulator can provide up to 4mA load current for low power applications. To achieve greater design flexibility, the regulator can also supply power to the microcontroller or other external components. Even if the DIM input is low, the regulator remains open. The regulator requires only two small size ceramic capacitors and a small test resistor, thus greatly reducing the size of the circuit board and the total cost of the driver.
