Molex in China to enhance the automatic LED processing capacity

Molex Incorporated announced in China to enhance the automatic LED processing capacity to expand its production scale. Using the latest high-speed SMT technology and bonding technology, Molex has recently set up Fifth billion thin film switch LED. Molex has been in the flexible circuit based on LED for more than 20 years, through two methods of innovative bonding and packaging components, to achieve durable electrical and mechanical reliability, provide interactive user interface and low cost for customers.

"The polyester based silver printing circuit used in the thin film switch cannot withstand the high temperature of the weld, so it is necessary to adopt an alternative process," said Molex Incorporated business development manager Justin Spitzer. "Molex initially used an anisotropic (Z axis) conductive adhesive, followed by the development of fully conductive epoxy resin to accommodate our high speed SMT production line."

Many industry manufacturers, including home appliances, medical, industrial, consumer goods, handheld devices and cars, will benefit from this technology. Assembly components can also be other electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, seven segment LED and IC, fixed on the thick film circuit, open the door to other applications for this technology. Integrated components allow customers to more flexible membrane switch and user interface, PCB and other discrete lighting components (such as light guide), low-cost and durable alternative products.
