Motorola and Freescale Carle jointly developed 3G technology platform

Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor, before Carle signed a multi-year agreement, the two sides will cooperate in the development of the third generation global system for mobile communication (3G/UMTS) technology platform for the product to the mass market in 2008. But the terms and conditions of this agreement were not disclosed.

The protocol involves the development of baseband, radio frequency (RF), power management and power amplifier, etc.. Motorola will use Carle's 3G platform, which features high-speed download packet access and a single core modem architecture, will be high-performance, low-power, competitive price of the phone to the market.

According to market research firm Strategy Analytics predicts that by 2010 it is estimated that 1 billion users use 3G services, the next 5 years CAGR of more than 70%.

Freescale Semiconductor Carle formerly known as Motorola's semiconductor division. In July 2004, the company split from Motorola to become an independent publicly traded company.
