Mouser purchase Catalyst CAT4016 16 channel LED driver

Electronic devices distributor Mouser ELectronics announced the day before the purchase is Catalyst Semiconductor company CAT4016 16 channel LED driver. Catalyst is an analog, mixed signal device and non-volatile memory vendor.

CAT4016 LED channel can be in the output voltage as low as 0.4V (when the LED current is 2mA ~ 100mA) to keep the steady state, in the application design can achieve higher power efficiency. The maximum LED current can be set by an external resistor. A high speed, four wire serial interface with a frequency of up to 25MHz controls each LED channel through a shift register and latch architecture. Independent serial data output pin allows multiple devices to be connected in series using the same serial interface. CAT4016 also has a thermal protection feature that allows the device to shut down the LED output when the chip temperature exceeds the allowable limit.

CAT4016 offers a variety of packages for user selection, including 24 pin SOIC, TSSOP, QSOP and an area of only 4 x 4mm TQFN package. The LED driver is designed for billboards, advertising captions, instruments, or other large, general purpose indoor and outdoor LED displays.
