NOKIA expects 2010 global mobile phone users will exceed 3 billion

November 19th, NOKIA said on Thursday that by 2010, global mobile phone users will exceed 3 billion. At present, the global mobile phone users is 2 billion.

According to The Associated Press, NOKIA senior vice president Wali Moneimne, in the world of Information Security Summit (WSIS) said that by 2010 the global mobile phone users is expected from the current 2 billion to 3 billion, but did not disclose how much share from NOKIA will win.

Currently, NOKIA has a global mobile phone market share of 1/3.

Tom Phillips said: so far, although 80% of the world's population has access to the mobile phone network conditions, but the penetration rate of mobile phones is only 1/4, the world's population is still not used in the mobile phone 4 billion."

Phillips believes that tax, regulation and cost is a major obstacle to limiting the popularity of mobile phones in developing countries.

NOKIA and another senior vice president Veli Sundback said, at present, mobile phone penetration rate has exceeded our expectations, he said: "two years ago, our goal is to achieve by 2008 2 billion users, the target has been realized in September this year."
