OLED display line for Panasonic to spend 300 billion yen to build a new plant

According to foreign media reports, Panasonic Industrial Company (Matsushita ELectric Industrial Co.) will begin next year on the next generation of display technology for television production testing, is expected early in 2011 to put into commercial production. In the organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel technology, the world's top consumer electronics manufacturers are facing intense competition, which includes Japan's SONY and Samsung Electronics from South korea. Panasonic has said the initial production has been in the OLED panel factory in Japan to prepare, it is known that the factory is the second largest factory production is mainly used for Matsushita, the LCD TV display panel. Headquartered in Japan, Osaka Panasonic has invested 300 billion yen in the panel factory ($2 billion 800 million) of funds, which is located in Hyogo Himeji City plant is expected to be formally put into production in 2010. Reported that the test production line will be officially launched next year, is expected in 2011 officially entered the mass production of 40 inches panel stage. Panasonic spokesman Akira Kadota confirmed the company wants to carry out the project in the plant OLED panel development, but declined to disclose details. OLED technology uses a light-emitting chemicals, abandoned the traditional liquid crystal display (LCD) backlight technology used. This means that the use of OLED panel display technology TV volume is more thin, more vivid image, less energy consumption. The Sony Corp began selling its 11 inch OLED TV on the market since December of last year, Samsung Electronics in the consumer electronics show this year held in Las Vegas showed its large 31 inch OLED tv. In addition, earlier this month, the Japanese government said the OLED panel will fully support the SONY, SHARP, Matsushita and other domestic consumer electronics manufacturers to jointly develop large size display technology, is expected on 2015 to research 40 inch OLED panel technology giant forward. It is understood that the market is now more expensive than the LCD panel OLED technology and plasma panel. Therefore, considering the cost relationship, OLED technology is widely used in small size displays such as mobile phones and other mobile devices.
