OLED lighting market size will reach $4 billion 500 million

According to a Virginia based industry analysis firm NanoMarketsLC released the latest report shows that the organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting market size in 2013 will reach about $4 billion 500 million, to 2015 will increase to $5 billion 900 million. The company said, due to the OLED performance and production levels have improved, therefore, OLED lighting market prospects in the past year has been a great leap forward. At the same time, there is a report on the issue of OLED materials will be announced in early October.

The unit cost of OLED lighting may be higher than that of conventional lighting technology, but the extra cost is offset by the increase in OLED life and efficiency. During 2008, OLED's service life increased from 24000 hours to 100000 hours. At the same time, the U.S. Department of energy (U.S.DepartmentofEnergy) is currently expected to achieve the effectiveness of OLED lighting 150 lumens / watt in 2012, rather than the previous forecast in 2014. NanoMarkets believes that all improvements in OLED will drive the entire lighting market camp received $2 billion 300 million in 2015.

The production process of OLED also has obvious progress. GE and FraunhoferInstitute have confirmed that tape manufacturing OLED lighting equipment will eventually lead to the production cost of OLED dropped. Low cost printing methods and new small molecular ink will also help promote OLED into the backlight module market. NanoMarkets expects OLED backlight module market size will reach $1 billion 100 million by 2015. Although the first batch of OLED lighting plate is quite small, but the day before the Asian factory has expanded the scale of production of large OLED display, it will undoubtedly be beneficial to OLED lighting manufacturing infrastructure, resulting in light emitting plate can be increased in a few years.
