OLED on the eve of mass production

OLED is a very promising flat-panel display technology, it has shown excellent performance, with self luminous, ultra light, simple structure, fast response, wide viewing angle, low power consumption and flexible displays and other characteristics, known as the "dream display", has become the third generation display field display the main force of the device. At present, OLED technology has made some new progress, mainly in the following aspects:

First, from analog to digital driven development. The OLED panel with analog driving technology needs to design complex circuit to ensure the balance of light emission. Digital drive, the drive TFT (thin film transistor) only need to operate the current switch. Although the digital drive has many advantages, but in the large size of the application, there will be problems of high power consumption, this technology has yet to break through the bottleneck. Therefore, it is more suitable to adopt analog driving mode in large scale applications.

Second, using oxide semiconductor TFT. As we all know, compared with low temperature polysilicon (p-Si) TFT and other silicon semiconductor, oxide semiconductor TFT production process is simple, and the manufacturing cost is very low. In addition, the electron mobility of the oxide semiconductor TFT is 20 times higher than that of the amorphous silicon (a-Si) TFT, so the performance is higher.

Third, the development of the oxide semiconductor IGZO (In-Ga-Zn-O) materials in the 12.1 inch OLED panel. The oxide semiconductor IGZO panel forms an active matrix TFT array and an organic EL (electroluminescent) element with an oxide semiconductor on a glass substrate. Samsung SDI pointed out that the use of IGZO TFT, its advantage lies in the production of large size glass substrate.

At present, the OLED display is on the eve of mass production. With the further development of the research and the continuous emergence of new technologies, OLED display devices will have a breakthrough development. Next generation display AMOLED market is also gradually formed. Currently, Samsung has held a large-scale AMOLED production line ceremony, the Sony Corp of Japan launched the world's first 11 inch TV production line, LG company and CMEL company also began production of AMOLED work.

New LCD technology in the ascendant

With the development of liquid crystal technology, some companies have developed a non rectangular LCD panel, mainly the following:

First, heart-shaped, boat shaped and raindrop shaped LCD panel. NEC LCD technology has developed to the liquid crystal panel to achieve multi curve and drive technology of complex shape to form a concave inner side of the panel, and is manufactured by using the technology of the heart-shaped, boat shaped and raindrop shaped liquid crystal panel. Previously, the special panel, the company has developed the round and oval but with more than 180 degrees concave shape is also the first time.

Second, oval and round LCD panel. South Korea LG company has developed an oval and round LCD panel. The length of the oval panel is 131.4 mm and the short diameter is about 78.8 mm. Round panel with a diameter of 35.5 mm. Two products are close to 160 degrees of view. Oval panel can be used in photo frames, automotive dashboard and household appliances and other fields. The round panel can be used for small devices such as mobile phones, watches, clocks, games, etc..

Third, reflective LCD panel. South Korea's LG company developed a reflective LCD panel that can display different images on both sides of the glass substrate. The panel uses a reflective ECB (electrically controlled birefringence) mode, not only without a backlight, but also for portable devices. A liquid crystal panel can undertake the function of the main screen and the auxiliary screen. In addition, in order to display the image on both sides, the researchers made two changes to the structure of the panel: first, the color filter inside the floor of the new reflection layer; the two is to change the structure of the TFT array. Researchers through the formation of two transistors in pixels, to achieve the purpose of showing different images on both sides.

In addition, the LCD touch screen as a computer input device of the latest, its application is very broad, including telecommunications bureau, tax bureau, bank, electric power and other departments of the city street business inquiries, information inquiry, and industrial control, military command, electronic games, multi media teaching, real estate pre-sale etc..
