OLED sales in the third quarter disappointing, AMOLED will promote industrial growth

DisplaySearch released the latest quarterly report shows that after the implementation of the monthly production of 1 million 500 thousand Samsung SDI AMOLED display, is expected to yield substantial growth in the third quarter, but the quarter it barely reached 100 thousand, significantly lower than the 350 thousand in 2007 second quarter. This led to the third quarter of 2007, OLED display industry sales of only $78 million 300 thousand, respectively, compared with the same period last year and the second quarter fell by 38% and 31%. Third quarter shipments of 15 million 500 thousand, compared with the same period last year, a decrease of 32%, down from the second quarter of 22%.

LGE, the industry's leading supplier of resources from PMOLED to AMOLED, is also one of the reasons for the low level of industrial output. The company has only 310 thousand shipments in the third quarter, up from $3 million 100 thousand in the second quarter. SONY did not produce AMOLED, because it is ready to start shipping XEL-1 in December 2007, which is the world's first AMOLED tv. But not all bad news:

rhenium treasure Technology (RiTdisplay) sales reached $31 million, shipments reached 6 million 400 thousand, the highest quarterly record.

Pioneer shipments ranked second, sales ranked at third. Samsung SDI shipments ranked third, sales ranked at second. Samsung SDI is the only company that produces both PMOLED and AMOLED.

Samsung SDI has increased its production, and is expected in the fourth quarter of 2007 shipments of more than 2 million. Technology is expected to continue to maintain its excellent performance, shipments will be more than 7 million, rewrite its highest record.

Odd crystal photoelectric also began to produce AMOLED display, the output of 16 thousand, is expected to double in the fourth quarter of 2007. MED and eMagin are the only two vendors based on micro display OLED vendors

According to DisplaySearch Barry Young: "while the third quarter of 2007 shipments and sales both fell, but we predict that the fourth quarter of 2007 will be a quick recovery, the 2007 annual sales and shipments increased 11% and 7% respectively. We expect 2008 AMOLED will promote the growth of the industry, because following the Samsung SDI, SONY and odd crystal, TPO and LG.Philips also began commercial production. "
