OSRAM LED patent litigation victory, this electronic was shut out of Germany

In recent litigation with OSRAM photoelectric, Taiwan area LED manufacturers this electronic (Kingbright) lost. The Court confirmed that OSRAM violated the three basic patents and utility model patents, and postponed a patent on LED packaging technology award. According to the ruling, many of the current LED products will not be sold in Germany, these products in Germany inventory must also be destroyed. This is not the verdict and filed an appeal.

OSRAM sees the ruling as a further consolidation of the company's patent strategy. In addition, OSRAM has also filed a similar infringement lawsuit in China today.

The patents and utility models involved in the German lawsuit are mainly related to the conversion of blue light to white light by fluorescent powder. OSRAM was the first company to launch a white chip LED in the late 90s. Typical applications of white LED include backlight display, interior and exterior lighting, etc..
