OSRAM joins ISELED alliance to develop intelligent RGB LED technology for vehicle interior lighting

A few days ago, OSRAM photoelectric semiconductor joined the ISELED alliance. ISELED alliance, founded in 2016, is an open alliance designed to provide intelligent RGB LED technology for automotive interior lighting.

ISELED alliance is developing a complete ecosystem for intelligent RGB LED, including RGB LED module, LED controller and software. The alliance focuses on interaction and coordination between hardware and software components to ensure optimal integration of LED and related controllers. ISELED said that this method can expand the interior lighting system and simplify the LED controller.

With the development of automatic driving, the interior design of cars has changed, and the demand for installed LED light sources is also increasing. The new generation of automotive interior or environmental lighting uses hundreds of LED, usually composed of flexible strips with a large number of RGB LED. These RGB LED must be controlled separately to produce dynamic lighting effects.

In the concept of ISELED, each "digital LED" includes a red green blue LED chip, which can be integrated with the controller in a small package, and can be used for chrysanthemum chain connection. As many as 4079 such "digital LED" can be arranged through different 2 wire buses, the data rate is 2 Mbps, and is controlled by external controllers, plus the corresponding application software provided by ISELED partners, so that the attractive lighting effect with video speed can be realized.

OSRAM photoelectric semiconductor will soon launch the first intelligent RGB LED prototype in the market. "The key customer advantage of these innovative intelligent LED components is that it is no longer necessary to adjust the color location and brightness of the LED complex calibration," said Hermann Senninger, senior marketing manager of OSRAM optoelectronics semiconductor interior.
