OSRAM patent infringement lawsuit against Kingbright

Kingbright company based on infringement of patent rights, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has been to Taiwan LED manufacturers Kingbright Electronics Co. Ltd in Germany Dusseldorf court and its German subsidiary Kingbright GmbH in europe. This move demonstrates the strengthening of OSRAM's LED intellectual property protection.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has stressed that Kingbright has infringed and is still in Germany through the import, sale and provision of certain white light and surface mount LED conduct infringement. OSRAM intends to apply for a ban and claim compensation. Kingbright has to block imports of LED and contain LED Kingbright products sold to germany. Distributor D. Schuricht GmbH & KG Co. is also subject to the same suit for the sale of such infringing products in germany.

A group of products involved in legal proceedings is a white LED with conversion technology. Typical applications include mobile phones and car radio display backlight. This technology was developed by OSRAM in the late 1990. It allows the white LED with a blue InGaN chip to achieve light emission through a suitable phosphor converter. OSRAM is the first manufacturer in the market to launch white light single chip LED. Another set of patented product technology is the design of LED's electronic connection architecture and shell, especially the surface mount technology. These LED are commonly used in automotive lighting applications, including internal lighting and rear combination lighting systems. Other LED manufacturers such as Dominant in the United States and Germany are also subject to the same patent litigation. OSRAM calculates to continue to take appropriate action around the world to protect its intellectual property rights.

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors company CEO R M u diger ller said, we take legal action against the Kingbright company's purpose is to stop without our consent to use our technology. Kingbright in the LED market has been authorized by other manufacturers, such as the United States Intematix company. This shows that the patents obtained from these companies can not automatically avoid infringement of OSRAM's patents.
