Optimization LED backlight LCD TV promising
Makes the display module becomes thinner by reducing the thickness of backlight source, this is a more effective way, in the future, the thickness of the display module can even be controlled below 10mm, but the premise is that we must find a substitute for CCFL backlight.
At present, there are three kinds of CCFL backlight backlight to replace the traditional, including CCFL backlight, side light type light type white LED and direct white LED. One of the first to put into use is the side light CCFFL backlight.
Compared to the direct type, the backlight is the light source is arranged on the edge of the screen, then using the light guide plate to convert it into the back of the display screen of the surface light source. However, this backlight mode is generally used in the notebook computer, it is indeed easier than the direct control of the thickness of the display module. Compared with the straight down, the brightness of the side light is difficult to improve, therefore, in the demand for higher brightness of the large TV, almost no side light products.
But, in order to achieve the goal of thin, large LCD TV or you can try this way. Early in the FPD International 2007 exhibition, featuring a 32 inch Tama company side light type back light source, its thickness is only 12mm.
The products used in the 12 CCFL, 8000cd/m2 brightness, power consumption is 95W.
In order to solve the problem of low brightness, Tama company has also taken some optimization measures, including layout design and optimization of CCFL and re selection of optical components, in order to improve the luminous efficiency; radiating structure of improved CCFL periphery, to avoid the decrease of the luminous efficiency of CCFL.
However, with the increase of the size of the TV screen, backlight brightness enhancement is difficult, so we have to optimize the CCFL backlight at the same time, also have to consider the back light model, that is, LED backlight.
We know that LED has high photoelectric conversion efficiency, high color saturation, small volume, shock resistance, impact resistance, do not contain toxic substances, low voltage power supply to the human body, safety, long life and other advantages. If the light source can be changed from CCFL to white LED, the thickness of the backlight can be further reduced.
With white LED side light type LED backlight source itself as an example, the volume is smaller than CCFL, side light type light guide plate can also further reduce the thickness; if using a white LED direct type, because of the use of the LED itself is very small in size advantage, manufacturers can easily configure a large number of white LED the backlight to form close to surface light source, even if it is close to the screen, bright spot is not obvious.
These years, LCD TV manufacturers are using LED as a backlight astepping-stone to success the ability to improve performance of product color, but also imperceptibly to achieve effective weapon LED ultra-thin LCD tv. This is because the LED backlight can be controlled in the region, that is, the image can be matched with the individual or each region of the LED lighting control. This kind of control method can improve the contrast and reduce power consumption.
Said so, whether by direct type or application of side light type LED backlight, no doubt is the booster on the road of ultra-thin LCD TV, is also likely to become the best candidate for the future LCD TV backlight technology.
