PHILPS low-end LCD TV single chip solution for LG products

PHILPS Electronics (Philips), LG Electronics announced before, in all its mainstream LCD TV products in the integration of PHILPS's TDA15500 program and the TV505 reference design to solve the single chip. The use of this reference design in a variety of products can reduce costs, which allows the LG to maintain high quality image of the market, the market can provide a competitive price LCD tv.

Allegedly, the solution TDA15500 chip system is the first solution such as video decoding, PC input, image improvement, progressive scanning and video and teletext micro controller characteristics to provide LCD TV manufacturers.

"PHILPS single chip LCD TV LCD TV solution scheme and reference design enables us to develop in all market segments with competitive price," LG electronic display research laboratory chief research engineer and project manager HS Yoo said, "integrated on a single chip and small and compact design makes the board faster development cycle, so as to bring lower production costs."

PHILPS single chip solution is developed for the TV manufacturers with high growth potential market segments. According to DisplaySearch's forecast for the third quarter of 2005 showed that the mainstream LCD TV market (display size in the size of 23 inches) will grow from 2005 to Taiwan's 9 million units in 2007.

TDA15500 is based on PHILPS's low-end LCD TV launched UOC (Ultimate-One-Chip) third generation solution. This single chip contains an on-chip microcontroller to ensure a complete implementation of the LCD TV system with minimal external components. The UOC (super monolithic) video decoding function in series with the development of the progressive advanced together, the implementation of LCD TV solutions become more convenient, time to market has become faster.
