PI release LED reference design tool RDK-131

Power Integrations company recently launched a set of ultra small power supply reference design tool (RDK-131) to help designers develop high-performance LED alternative to replace the high power consumption of incandescent lamps. This set of tools can assist designers to develop a power supply circuit with LED bulb socket, while ensuring that these used to replace incandescent bulbs through LED electromagnetic radiation and noise tolerance of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements.

Different from the incandescent light source which can be directly supplied by the city power supply, each LED bulb must be provided with a power supply in the Edison (E27) or Bayonet (GU10) socket.

Power Integrations AC/DC product marketing manager Don Ashley said: "to develop a can be applied to such a small space of the power supply circuit is not easy, especially to the electromagnetic interference reduced to meet current standards. In order to limit the volume of such applications, Power Integrations has launched a small SO-8 package LinkSwitch-TN series of non isolated offline switching components. The reference design tools we 131 will not only this component integrated in a has been tested and the normal operation of the power supply circuit board, while also providing samples of LinkSwitch-TN component of another blank circuit board, additional, and how to use the instructions we design of LED lighting power supply module. This set of tools can greatly simplify the design process of the LED light source, thereby speeding up the listing process. "

Since electricity accounts for about 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, authorities and government agencies around the world are looking for ways to reduce energy waste. For example, the United States Senator Lloyd Levine recently pointed out: "incandescent bulbs since 125 years ago, and since the beginning of the use of the performance has been very low, only to receive 5% of the electricity into light in California. And he proposed a bill to modify the number of MPS required by the light bulb (How Many Legislators it to Change a Lightbulb Act) once passed, the United States will be banned from 2012 California incandescent bulbs.

In contrast, the LED bulb consumes only 1/3 of the incandescent lamp, while the life cycle is relatively long.
