Q2 global semiconductor equipment sales of $7 billion 580 million down 21%

International semiconductor equipment and Materials Association (SEMI) recently released the second quarter of 2005, the global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales amounted to $7 billion 580 million, representing a decrease of 19% in the first quarter of 2005, compared with the same period last year fell 21%. The data were collected by the association with the Japan Semiconductor Equipment Association (SEAJ), with more than and 150 global equipment companies providing monthly data for the survey.

First half of 2005, the new global semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales amounted to $16 billion 900 million, compared to the same period last year fell 10%.

SEMI Stanley president and CEO T. Myers said: "recently on the SEMI display the consensus of the members of the investigation, after a year of very strong sales performance, expects global equipment sales will reach about $33 billion this year, and since the beginning of the performance and the survey coincide."
