SIA:6 month global semiconductor sales lower than the same period last year

According to the U.S. semiconductor industry association (SIA) statistics, from January to May this year, the actual sales of semiconductor global and regional annual growth rate gradually decline, June semiconductor sales will be lower than the same period last year, but this year may decline. Solid MP3 player due to overproduction, June NAND flash prices fell 30% in June, the actual sales of semiconductor seems to be more than $20 billion 730 million in June 2004. And in addition to the Asia Pacific region, the actual semiconductor sales in all other regions in May were lower than the same period last year. Relying on the support of the Asia Pacific region, in May the global semiconductor actual sales of $16 billion 940 million, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year, but significantly lower than the $three monthly average of $18 billion 50 million.

SIA and the global semiconductor trade statistics Organization (WSTS) data show that in 2005 1~5 months, the actual monthly sales growth rate was 25.2%, respectively, 9%, 6.9%, and 0.5%. This shows a downward trend in the growth rate month by month, according to this situation, the actual semiconductor sales in June 2005 will be lower than in June 2004.

For the Asia Pacific region, 1~5 months semiconductor sales growth over the same period each month were 39.7%, 15.9%, 16.4%, and 5.1%. As the Asia Pacific region accounted for nearly half of global semiconductor sales, this decline is concerned about the situation.

2005 1~5 global real semiconductor sales of $88 billion 690 million, an increase of 8.6% over the same period last year. In addition to the Asia Pacific region, semiconductor sales in all other regions in May were lower than the same period last year. Japan's May sales of $3 billion 440 million, than last year fell 4.5% in May; America was $2 billion 990 million, down 1.3%; European sales of $2 billion 870 million, down 2.4%; Asia Pacific sales were $7 billion 650 million, up 5.1%. In April, the Asia Pacific region grew by 11.5% over the same period.
