Chinese semiconductor foundry SMIC semiconductor manufacturing company (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC)) began mass production of American Aurora design company Systems LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) chip.
The chip will be used for pure digital HD (resolution 1920 x 1080) and high resolution (resolution of 1280 x 720) large rear projection tv. Aurora System design of this chip has been adopted by a number of large household electrical appliance manufacturers. (reporter: under the big one)
