SONY said OLED TV energy but not cost-effective

December 6, 2007, according to SONY's executive vice president Katsumi Ihara said, although the LCD TV and the use of traditional CRT can save 50% compared to TV, LCD power consumption is still about 70% of household electrical appliances. Compared with LCD TV, OLED has the potential to reduce energy consumption by 40%, while reducing consumption is the driving force to promote the development of SONY OLED TV. But Ihara also acknowledged that OLED TV replace LCD TV is too early, SONY is still focused on the Bravia LCD TV business. However, due to the characteristics of OLED, such as energy saving, ultra thin and high definition, SONY still attaches great importance to the potential of OLED. But if you want to become more popular OLED TV, SONY had to consider how to produce OLED products bigger and cheaper this issue. (http://www.digitimes.com/)
