Samsung, LG for the first time reached a mutual purchase LCD panel agreement, Samsung will provide LG 56 inch LCD TV with LED backlight module

South Korea's Samsung Electronics Project in the fourth quarter of 2008 to provide LCD panel manufacturers LG Display 55 inch LCD TV with LED backlight module. The number of LED used in the backlight module is less than 35% in June.

It is reported that the South Korean LCD panel hutch reached first counterpurchase products agreement. The two sides will before the end of July 2008 to finalize the purchase quantity, price and other details. Samsung Electronics plans to buy 37 Inch LCD panel LG Display, and LG Display is intended to buy Samsung Electronics in the 52 Inch LCD panel. In addition, the two companies are also assessing the possibility of the purchase of LCD panel module normalization.

It is understood that Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDI, LG electronics and LG.Philips LCD (now renamed LG Display) founded Korea display industry alliance in May 2007 (Korea Display Industry Association, referred to as KDIA). Its main purpose is to hope that the South Korean companies can interact with patent licensing, procurement, and cooperation in product development. Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics (LG Display parent) in the past has never purchased the panel to each other, but will be required to release zero component orders to Taiwan manufacturers.
