Active matrix organic light emitting diode (AM-OLED) panels and liquid crystal displays, compared with better image quality, but also thinner and more energy saving, panel manufacturers have increased investment in this market. At present, the Samsung SDI AM-OLED panel company mainly produces small size, mainly for mobile phone screen, in a document submitted to the local stock exchange, Samsung SDI said it would invest $528 million 600 thousand to expand the production of AM-OLED. Other manufacturers are also stepping up production of OLED. Japan's Sony Corp in November last year to start selling OLED TV, Toshiba plans to sell small size OLED mobile phone screen this fall. Last week, Japanese media reported that Panasonic will make a 37 Inch OLED TV on a large scale within a period of three years.
ISuppli market research firm expects in May, the global AM-OLED panel sales will grow 4 times this year, reaching $10 million 20 thousand, revenue reached $225 million.
