Samsung SONY consider again targeting eighth generation LCD panel joint

Yesky October 21st news (Dai Yan for compilation) according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted Samsung executives Thursday, Sony Corp and Samsung Corp may invest again, construction of a new factory with the production technology of the eighth generation LCD panel.

In 2004, Samsung and SONY have jointly invested $2 billion, the creation of the company named S-LCD LCD panel manufacturing company (codenamed 7-1 line). On Thursday, at a press conference in Tokyo, Samsung LCD business CEO Lee Sang Wan told the media: "really need Sony Corp now big screen TV LCD panel, they will invest to get more supply. For this news, Samsung Corp spokesman did not give confirmation. The spokesman said that the next step in the production of liquid crystal board, Samsung is considering various possibilities. But there is no substantive decision. Previously, Samsung has said it will build the next generation of eighth generation LCD panel production line.

Yohap also quoted Lee Sang Wan as saying that although the two sides are actively considering further cooperation on the LCD panel production line, but has not yet reached a formal agreement. He also revealed that S-LCD has been in production since September this year, began to profit.
