Shin-Etsu chemical developed low permeability packaging materials with high brightness LED package

Shin-Etsu chemical industry as silicon packaging materials of high brightness LED package, developed the reduced permeability of the low refractive index of new products "KER-7000 series". The new product is prepared by Shaw A hardness of 80 KER-7080 A/B and Shaw A hardness of KER-7030 A/B of the 2, will face LED and other samples for supply.

It is pointed out that, in the high permeability of packaging materials, oxygen and other gases are easy to invade, so the LED surrounding material will occur oxidation and sulfidation reaction, which may lead to reduced brightness.

After the development of shin Etsu chemical high heat resistance silicone and the pursuit of low permeability of packaging materials such as silicone (Figure 2).

And the development of new products to maintain the same level of heat resistance and methyl silicon, but also to reduce the permeability of methyl silicon 1/10. In addition, the new product with the same permeability of phenyl silicon, but greatly enhance the heat resistance. The use of KER-7000 series as packaging material can prevent the corrosion of the surrounding material caused by the reduction of brightness, help to improve the reliability of high brightness LED. In addition, the refractive index of the product is 1.38, lower than the methyl silicon, so excellent light transmittance is particularly suitable for high brightness LED flat package.
