South Korean government plans to develop LED fluorescent lamp safety standards

According to China CCPIT promotioin news, South Korean Ministry of knowledge economy Technical Standards Institute announced on November 29, 2010, for LED fluorescent lamp (converter plug type) for safety standards (Draft) and publicity. South Korea has been committed to promoting the standardization of LED fluorescent lamp, but has not yet reached a consensus to develop a unified standard.

At present, the structure of LED fluorescent lamp is mainly divided into three types: one is in the ballast installed inside the existing fluorescent lamp; the two is to remove the ballast, outside plus a dedicated LED converter; three is directly connected to the LED lamp power supply. However, in the use of LED conversion equipment and fluorescent lamps, the lamp tube damage, heating and other issues often occur.

Technical Standards Institute will develop safety standards from the aspects of safety detection methods. At the same time also provide support for the market development of LED fluorescent lamp. In addition, in the development of standards will be the quality of the safety standards for plug-in converters as an important basis.

In order to prevent the use of mixed with ordinary fluorescent lamp, plug type LED fluorescent lamp is mainly used in two ways: first, the use of special D12 (base); the second is the ordinary day with the lights off the base isolation (G13).
