Taiwan traffic lights three years to switch to LED

Taiwan economic department has decided to invest 229 million yuan (NT $7 million), from the beginning of 2008, within three years all the traffic lights in urban and rural areas of Taiwan to the LED lamp.

That economic department of Energy Bureau, Taiwan now has 350 thousand traffic lights using LED as light source, and the remaining 420 thousand will be in 2011 before the completion of renovation, it can save about 85% of energy consumption.

At the same time, the economic department will also invest 130 million yuan NT, the specific sections and regions with LED light source lamp.
