The South Korean government to pay 50% investment TI established a research centre in South Korea

According to South Korean media Central Daily (JoongAng Daily) said the latest reports, TI recently in South Korea established a wireless technology research center, TI's goal is in South Korea to develop the next generation of mobile multimedia communication. Initially, the new research center will recruit 75 researchers.

Media reports said that TI's new wireless technology research center plans to 2010 will invest $48 million, half of the investment paid for by TI, the other half is paid by the South Korean government investment.

TI's wireless technology research center will be built in the south of Seoul, South Korea Samsung-dong, the company will focus on the use of system templates for the development of mobile multimedia systems. Wireless technology research center will begin with the Korea advanced science and Technology Association (KAIST) to develop the next generation of mobile multimedia platform, the new mobile multimedia platform can receive a variety of forms of multimedia broadcast.

Media reports said that in this development plan, TI will first assign 30 researchers or researchers of 40%. The researchers will come from the u.s.. In South Korea, there are 11 other high-tech companies, including Intel, Hewlett-Packard Co, IBM and Microsoft Corp, with the South Korean Ministry of information and communications to operate the research center.
