The future is "orange"? Another city the amber LED street lighting

The world widely used white LED lamps and lighting trend has been very obvious, but there is a city is considered not obey this trend.

Located in the South Island of New Zealand's second largest city, Dunedin is seeking the possibility of amber LED lighting installation, the lighting looks similar to the current low pressure sodium lamp.

The city council has watched the amber LED demo, now is to be decided in the next few months is to install the white LED or amber light LED. The government has a 10 year plan for LED street lighting NZ $12 million (about 55 million 430 thousand yuan) of the budget.

This decision is due to concerns about the white LED lamp may impact on health. The local "dark sky organization" (Dark Skies Group) a member of the Michael Broughton will strongly promote the amber LED, he raised concerns about light pollution. He hoped that the City Council can use amber LED lighting, because he believed that very little affect humans, wild animal and sky.

Broughton stressed that now is not a perfect option, because LED lights all have shortcomings.
