The liquid crystal family newcomer Tim SHARP released a dual perspective LCD panel

SHARP recently developed a new type liquid crystal panel, the panel to the left and the right, will get a different picture.

This panel will be put into production at the end of this month, after the panel samples have been exhibited in Tokyo on Thursday, the panel can make people from the TV and watch different TV programs, also can make the computer display with the fight game game player of the game screen each different.

The research work of this technology early is carried out in SHARP UK Oxford laboratory, the laboratory of optical imaging technology director Grant Bourhill said, although the technique is simple in principle, but it will be put into practice, it took two and a half years of development time. Since 1992, the laboratory has been dedicated to the study of 3D view technology, which uses a similar technique. 3-D screen through the decomposition of the screen, so that the left eye and right eye to see only a slight difference between the different pictures. The new principle of liquid crystal display is almost the same, but the perspective of the two screen will be larger.

The screen displays a different picture by displaying a part of the pixel column, and the odd column forms a picture. When viewed from the side, in front of the screen has been printed on plastic, black vertical line fine makes even columns become blurred, and from the other side, odd become blurred, so the picture depends on the viewing position.

If the same picture is displayed on the left and right, it is similar to the common panel. The vertical black line makes the display darker than normal, which can be overcome by a stronger backlight. The problem is that the resolution of the image is reduced due to the alternating pixels of each image.

Although SHARP has said it is considering the use of such panels for their products, but did not disclose any details about the product. In addition, SHARP is trying to convince another company to use this panel for its products. SHARP did not disclose the specific price, only to claim that this panel is cheaper than two ordinary panels.

SHARP also shows another principle similar to the panel. This panel is equipped with liquid crystal conversion material to control the viewing angle of the display screen. The normal picture is displayed when used normally, but when it is converted, the viewing angle is reduced so that it can be seen from the front. And the people around can only see very blurred picture.

This new type of display, will also be put into production in July this year. SHARP hopes it can be widely used in bank ATMs, cell phones and laptop computers to prevent people around to see the contents of the display.
