To create a new era of India chip chip manufacturing factory

Wednesday local time, India Investors Association announced plans to cooperate with the government of India, AMD to build a semiconductor manufacturing factory in India. The investor Association, called SemIndia, hopes to enter the growing domestic semiconductor market, is expected in the next ten years, the domestic market size of the domestic logic chip will reach $15 billion in India. AMD said. It has signed an agreement with SemIndia, which will allow the use of AMD's design, manufacture, assembly, testing and other processing technology. AMD will work with SemIndia to develop India semiconductor products market.

SemIndia chairman, President and chief executive officer Vinod Agarwal said last year, India's electronics industry sales revenue has reached $10 billion, an increase of 24%. At present, the semiconductor products accounted for the largest proportion of the imported products in India. The new plant is also manufactured in the same area outside India. "We expect a $3 billion investment in the new plant," Agarwal said. The new plant will be used in the manufacture of computer microprocessors, mobile phone use of logic chips, set-top boxes and other electronic devices".

Agarwal said the whole investment in new factories, reliable investment depends on the government, but the government of India has not said the scale of investment, he said: "we have taken note of the joint venture is private and state-owned partnership". Although SemIndia did not disclose who is the new factory to investors, but hinted that the new plant investment will include India foreign investors and other investors, the government of India and possibly AMD company were mixed investment.

Agarwal signed a memorandum of understanding with AMD chairman, President and chief executive officer Hector Ruiz, India's IT and Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran attended the signing ceremony in Delhi on Wednesday.

The chairman of the India Association and the American semiconductor chip maker Broadcom Bangalore subsidiary company chief Rajendra Kumar Khare said, SemIndia chip manufacturing plant plan is to influence the whole economy began to signal a new industry in India, India will enable electronic manufacturing software development and the growth of chain reaction. He expects the new plant will help India to create a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, and further promote the growth of India's gross domestic product.

India has been eager to have its own semiconductor factories, to persuade Intel earlier this year IT and Communications Minister Maran and Intel chairman Craig Barrett at Intel headquarters meeting to establish a semiconductor testing and assembly plant in India. Leading technology development has made India a new image in the world, but the absence of large scale chip manufacturing in India is a dark side of the country. Although TI has set up a chip design workshop in India, it has been difficult to build a chip manufacturing plant in India, in part because of the backwardness of infrastructure in India.

India's state-owned semiconductor company, based in Chandigarh (Chandigarh), uses backward manufacturing technology to produce some of the best quality products. Semiconductor Corporation has a 6 inch wafer assembly workshop, which uses a 0.8 micron manufacturing technology to process wafers.

SemIndia chief executive said: "if India wants to stand out as a technology ace and innovator, it needs to have its own factory".
