Toshiba two camp will reach agreement on the next generation of DVD standard

May 10th news, SONY and Toshiba will be for the next generation of DVD standard agreement, will eventually develop a unified joint development of the next generation DVD standard plan, solve three years affected the growth of the DVD industry's format wars.

The details of the plan will be announced before the next generation of DVD manufacturers meeting in May 16th, the Japanese newspaper reported on Monday.

SONY and Panasonic support Blu ray DVD standard, Toshiba, NEC and SANYO and other companies to support HDDVD standards. The two camps have been competing for the next generation of DVD standards.

Currently, the two sides have pointed out that the new, unified next generation DVD standard will use SONY's information recording technology, while Toshiba will provide software processing data transmission efficiency and copyright protection and other technical issues.
