United States Rambus patented technology to make light out of the optical material efficiency over 92%

America Rambus company recently launched a series of PentELic's intellectual property portfolio, plans to enter the LED lighting industry. Allegedly, this technique uses the LED side light type light guide plate, the micro optical devices embedded in the optical material to realize the control of the angle of the light, in order to get more light from the light, with light efficiency reached 92-95% high (the current even simple collimator can reach 90% of the little light efficiency). The technology will be used to provide lighting for a certain area or orientation, such as offices, schools, retail stores and commercial buildings.

The optical waveguide material uses optical grade poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), which is optically coupled with a mirror or lens placed at the edge of the optical waveguide. The lens array, which is placed on the light guide surface, is optimized by the computer in order to meet the requirements of the light direction, and the optical guide has a suitable optical property.
