The US Coast Guard has announced that a lighthouse 8 miles off the coast of Sandy Ambrose in New Jersey,, has been replaced by a multiple LED light buoy. New York Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Ambrose said ships safe navigation through the lighthouse is not absolute requirement for the Ambrose Strait, many navigation equipment will be increased, Ambrose channel will broaden to more suitable for large merchant ships sailing.
It is reported that, Ambrose lighthouse has been hit three times in 1996, which is the main reason it needs to be replaced. Each time it is hit, it is not effectively repaired. With the improvement of the channel and the LED technology, the large LED buoy lamp can completely replace the previous lighthouse in light efficiency and safety, and is easier to maintain.
