Twenty-first Century will be the era of C Technology (organic)

Since the industrial revolution, the development of technology throughout the world, it is clearly showing the characteristics of the circle (Figure 1), approximately every 50 years for 1 cycles, from textile, steel, automobiles to electronics, biotechnology and forward forward. Since the beginning of the second half of the twentieth Century, become the core technology of semiconductor material traction technology development, is the first germanium initiation, then the development of silicon, and until today, can be called the era of silicon technology. Refer to the periodic table of chemical elements, from the IV family of fourth cycles to the development of the third cycle, the future will be towards the development of the C of the second cycle. IV group Ge, Si and C, according to its atomic structure are 4 electrons in the outer layer, and there are 4 holes, which can get a variety of interesting and useful properties. Outlook twenty-first Century will be C as the core of the organic technology era.

Silicon based inorganic semiconductor is a kind of ore, the material is hard, there is no freedom; organic material is a kind of soft material. The performance of organic semiconductor material is much better than that of inorganic semiconductor material, which can be used to produce large area with high speed. It is light, thin, soft texture, can be bent, in the display of OLED (organic LED) can be represented. In recent years, people are looking forward to organic electronic materials, in twenty-first Century will usher in the era of diversification and development of organic compounds. It is said that in twentieth Century is the core of silicon hard electronics era, in twenty-first Century will be C as the core of the soft electronics era, the era of C technology.

Integration of IC and FPD

Since 1958, TI J.kilby invented the IC, in a variety of electronic products, but also relates to a display device, however, at the same time, CRT tube based on body weight, high voltage, large power consumption, in terms of performance and mechanical structure and electrical IC is very considerable.

The liquid crystal has been found for over a hundred years, to the first half of the twentieth Century that people in the theory of liquid crystal have a better understanding, in 1962, Williams invented LCD (liquid crystal display), 1964 Sharp company launched a commercial LCD in the electronic calculator, so as to promote the application and development of LCD. LCD body is light and thin, and has low voltage, low power consumption and other characteristics, is more affordable and IC.

Headed by IC semiconductor and flat panel display represented by LCD (FPD) has developed, by 1990, the semiconductor output value reached US $48 billion 800 million, while FPD is only $1 billion, and by 2005, the semiconductor increased to $227 billion 500 million, while FPD has reached $75 billion (Figure 22006 years the two output respectively. $247 billion 700 million and $85 billion 500 million). The total of $302 billion 500 million, accounting for about 25% of the world's electronics industry, the proportion is very large. 1990~96 16 years, the scale of the semiconductor industry to expand to 5 times, with an average annual growth rate of 10.7%, FPD the same period was expanded by a factor of 85, with an average annual growth rate of up to 32%, much faster than semiconductors, the momentum is very fierce.

The semiconductor and FPD value in the electronics industry not only occupies a considerable proportion of the rapid development of FPD, and compared with the semiconductor, also reduced from 0.2:100 in 1990 to 35:65 in 2006, the proportion of close status greatly improved, therefore, today in the field of electronic devices, is no longer a semi conductor and dominate, but only with the FPD planes together, become the center of electronic industry, occupies a central position, with raw materials and manufacturing and testing equipment in the upstream, downstream for a variety of electronic products, and then through the circulation into the market (Figure 3).

Figure 3 the structure of the electronics industry

Remember some of the FPD as a typical semiconductor products era, today with LCD and PDP as the representative of the FPD development is very rapid, is expected to mature in this age tends to be so, and people put forward the concept of FPD, OLED, MEMS, believes that solar cells, fuel cells, bio technology is the future development direction. At the same time, there are a lot of people believe that after the semiconductor or semiconductor, FPD is still FPD. However, looking to the future, to put a long time to see, organic technology instead of inorganic technology is certain.

Flat-panel TVs are growing worldwide enthusiasm. Europe and the United States on the main market after two years ago has really entered the popular stage, the rise of China, Russia and Eastern Europe and the world market, flat-panel TV market is growing at an annual 20 million units of the scale forward, is expected in 2009 can reach the level of 100 million (Figure 4), in 2011 reached 129 million, an average annual growth rate of 2005~11 years rate of 31%, the development of others. In the meantime, China's development is particularly dazzling, with an average annual growth rate of 55%, this year the market can exceed Japan, reaching 9 million 100 thousand units in 2011 is expected to reach more than 27 million units, close to the United States to become the world's top third markets. By then, the penetration rate of 99.9% in Japan, Western Europe, the United States, the United States, China's 57%, China's 88%, there is room for development, so special attention by the world.

According to reports, the world's LCD TV market will be more than CRT TV in 2009, China will overtake the CRT TV in 2010 1 years later, reaching up to 22 million units (Figure 5). The 2006 World LCD TV market 30 Inch series products accounted for 42%, 40 Inch series accounted for 12%, the average size is 27.9% inches; the same year the average size of China market LCD TV sales of 29.6 inches, is also higher than the world level, living area, as a China family day is larger, because of this, Chinese market in the Olympic Games World Expo push
