Zetex new micro LED driver to meet higher power requirements

Analog signal processing and power management solutions provider Zetex Semiconductors (Zetex) company launched new ZXLD1362 light emitting diode (LED) driver. The new device to 6V to 60V input power, efficiency of up to 95%, can drive up to 16 high-power LED, adjustable output current up to 1A. The device uses a small TSOT23-5 package, at the same rated current level, is the smallest volume of similar devices, the largest area of only 2.8 x 2.9mm board, the board height is only 1mm.

ZXLD1362 can support up to 1MHz operating frequency, providing a highly sensitive and accurate LED brightness control, the typical dimming ratio below 300Hz is 1000:1. Just add the external capacitor, but also to achieve soft start function.

The chip integrates a 60V MOS switch and a high output current detection circuit, and uses an external resistor to set the nominal output current, allowing high power LED to benefit from the ground reference return path. This feature is particularly important in building lighting applications.

In order to simplify the thermal control, the chip adjusts the input resistance of the pin to be set at 50K so as to be compatible with the common thermistor value. With its compact design and high voltage transient stability, the chip can be used in a wide range of automotive and industrial applications.

For many low-power solutions, ZXLD1362 high power LED driver is ideal for the use of the upgrade program. Zetex itself ZXLD1350 (30V, 350mA) and ZXLD1360 (30V, 1A) products are good examples.
