2007 LED market will grow at a 2 digit rate

2005 and 2006 solid state lighting industry turnover has maintained moderate growth in the number of units, but in 2007 the industry is expected to promote the LED turnover growth rate of up to two digits. ISuppli predicts that the overall LED market turnover will grow by about 13.7% in 2007, with a CAGR of approximately 2006~2012 in the year of, to $12 billion 300 million by 2012. 2005 and 2006 global LED market turnover increased by only 2.1% and 8.7%, respectively.

These figures include all surface mount devices (SMD) and through-hole packaged LED lamps as well as alphanumeric display LED - including standard brightness, high brightness (HB) and ultra high brightness (UHB) LED.

A significant portion of the expected growth will come from ultra high brightness and high brightness LED for lighting applications. By 2012, the ultra-high brightness LED will account for about 31% of the overall LED turnover, far higher than in 2005 of the year of 4%.
